Zeffirelli chose Bagno Vignoni, Montalcino and Pienza for Romeo and Juliet and for Brother Sun Sistem Moon. Andrej Tarkovskij elected Bagno Vignoni a set of his suggestive Nostalghia. But the most famous ones filmed in Val d’Orcia, especially in Pienza, are without a doubt the Gladiator and the English Patient. Montepulciano is in turn a set of The English Patient, in the name of the Pope King, the Archbishop, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Under the Tuscan Sun, and more recently New Moon and the I Medici fiction.
